On a company's record type the VAT number and press “Search”: the app asks VIES, the free service of the European Commission, and shows you company name and address. With “Fill in the card” the data goes into place.

What it does
The whole European Union
It works with the VAT numbers of the 27 EU member states and of Northern Ireland. The number can be written with or without the country prefix, even with dots and spaces.
Check first, then write
VIES tells you whether the VAT number is active. Nothing changes on the record until you press “Fill in the card”.
Italian municipality recognised
For an Italian company the municipality of the address is matched to the official list of municipalities, with region and postcode.
No duplicates
If the same VAT number is already on another record, the app tells you before you create the company a second time.
How to switch it on
- 1There is nothing to switch on and no credentials to enter: the “Search” button is next to the VAT number on every company record.
- 2Type the VAT number and press “Search” or Enter.
- 3Check the company name and address coming from VIES and press “Fill in the card” to write them on the record.
Frequently asked questions
Why do name and address not arrive for some companies?+
Some countries, such as Germany and Spain, only say in VIES whether the VAT number is active: company name and address must be entered by hand. In Italy VIES only holds the VAT numbers enabled for cross-border trade.
Do PEC and SDI code come from VIES too?+
No, VIES does not have them. For Italian companies they are found by the “Companies' PEC and SDI code” integration with Openapi, which you switch on in the Marketplace inside the app.
What if VIES does not answer?+
The app tells you: try again shortly or fill in the record by hand.
